Technology Enabled Care VC / SWAN VC

Led by eHealth and managed by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth and Telecare, funding has been awarded by the Scottish Government to develop and enhance video conferencing services across health and care sectors.

With agreement from the various stakeholders, the TEC VC programme will also support the rollout of the National VC Standards across the wider public sector by developing a VC infrastructure that supports both SWAN and external connections.

The systems developed will  provide technology suitable for use within clients own homes.  Testing is about to begin on the use of Jabber Guest to provide a secure VC connection from either a browser or an app.

Requirements for the care home sector (or other external providers such as hospices, community centers, 3 sector premises etc) are currently being reviewed and a number of technologies investigated.  This includes the use of Cisco’s DX series of low cost, touch screen systems based on Android and registered to Cisco Call Manager.
