Browser Based Video Calls

iOS devices (iPads or iPhones) can now join our web-enabled bridges through Safari, either on or off NHS networks, without the need to install any dedicated video conferencing app. You must have iOS 13 or above.

We now support calls from most PCs (Windows, macOS or Linux) and most mobile devices (Android or iOS) for NHS staff and externals without the need for any dedicated video conference software. These browsers do not have to be connected to an NHS Scotland network (standard home broadband connections work very well).

Please see our Browser Based VC page for more information.

We recommend the latest Firefox, Chrome (or Chromium) or Edge browser is used for those joining with Windows PCs. Android devices should use Chrome.

In addition to Firefox or Chrome, MacOS users can join using Safari (v12 or above) if desired. The only limitation is Safari users won’t be able to share their PC content although they will be able to see content sent by others in the call.
