Jabber Guest is a new product from Cisco that is about to be trialled within the NHS. In the first instance, an administrator will create what looks like a web site address (this will later be streamlined so bookings can be made using a web based application). This will correspond to an existing video conferencing number. The ‘web link’ can then be e-mailed to the external participant. They click on the link and a VC session starts in either a web browser or an iPad app.
Testing of the system is due to start shortly – however a number of security and operational details still need to be worked out. It is anticipated that wider trials will start later in the year.
In the mean time, if you require to video conference with an external user who does not have their own VC system, please contact the service desk on 01224 816666 to discuss alternative options. Please note that these options are not currently suitable for use with patients.
