MFA for platform access

Attend Anywhere release R93 (13th August 2025) gave all those with platform logins the ability to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA).

We recommend enabling MFA as soon as you can, as it provides additional security to your account and the platform and its use. It will become mandatory for NHS Scotland staff using the platform from February 2026.

To login to the platform once MFA is enabled, you’ll enter your platform email and password as usual then will have to enter a 6-digit, single-use, code. There are two options for receiving/generating that code. The simplest, for many NHS staff, is to have the code sent by email. The alternative is to use a code generated by an authenticator application running on a smartphone or PC.

To gain access to the platform, depending on your choice of authentication, you must either be able to access the email account registered to the platform, or the smartphone or PC you have chosen to run the authenticator application on.

The choice of authentication applications that can be installed on corporate smartphones or PCs will be restricted and you must seek advice from your IT or telecoms department.

Should you find you are unable to access your authentication method after you have enabled MFA, and don’t have access to your ten one-time use codes (see links below), please contact us on vc.support@nhs.scot or 01224 816666, or your local Near Me facilitators, to request a reset of your MFA status. The Service or Org Admins covering any Waiting Areas you have access to will all be able to reset your MFA.

Org Admins

For those with Org Admin roles, we have a guide showing how to prompt staff to enable MFA whenever they next log into the platform, if they have not already done so. We are happy to set the prompt for you – just contact our service desk.
